Terms and Conditions for Photography Tuition
Agreement Governing Photography Tuition Services
These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for individuals participating in photography tuition or workshop services. By booking & paying a deposit you are enrolling in one of our sessions therefore the participant agrees to abide by the terms outlined below.
By accepting your booking we also agree to abide by the terms & conditions.
1. Registration and Fees
All participants must complete the registration process and make full payment prior to the commencement of the tuition sessions.
Deposits should be paid within 7 days of receipt of the invoice.
Full payment must be made within four weeks of the agreed date of the session or workshop.
Anyone under the age of 18 should be accompanied by their legal guardian or appropriate adult.
NB Tuition/guidance is not included for any accompanying adult unless prior agreement and payment has been made.
Fees are non-refundable unless otherwise specified in the cancellation policy.
Discounts or promotional offers cannot be combined unless explicitly stated.
2. Cancellation and Refund Policy
If a cancellation is made more than 30 days before the session: A full refund or the option to reschedule will be provided.
Cancellations of 14–30 days before the session: 50% refund or one free reschedule (subject to availability).
Less than 14 days before the session: No refund, but I will try to offer an alternative date if possible.
Participants must arrive at the agreed location on time. A delay of more than 45 minutes will be considered as a cancellation with no refund issued.
Session times must be agreed in advance. Open‑ended or “on‑call” arrangements are not offered, and I am unable to keep full days available without a confirmed meeting time. If a time has not been agreed at least 48 hours before the session, the booking may be rescheduled or cancelled at my discretion. This ensures I can plan travel, tides, weather windows and other client work without leaving full days unbooked.
Any cancellation must be made in writing; emails are an acceptable form.
We reserve the right to cancel your booking in the event that full payment is not received by us prior to the session or workshop taking place.
We also reserve the right to alter or cancel a booking, should this become necessary you will be offered the opportunity of an alternative date or full refund.
Poor weather conditions can be typical all year round in the Outer Hebrides. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations made due to poor weather. Where circumstances of an extreme weather event occurs, an alternative date may be offered.
In the event of cancellation by the instructor (e.g., due to illness), participants will be offered a rescheduled session, alternative instructor (where appropriate) or a full refund.
We do not accept liability for any loss or additional expense caused by delay or interruption to travel services through weather conditions, civil disturbance, industrial action, strikes, wars, floods or sickness.
NB It is the participants responsibility to ascertain if the tuition session or workshop is the appropriate subject, level of difficulty and environment.
3. Health and Safety
Participants are responsible for their own safety and must adhere to any instructions given by the instructor during sessions.
Participants should inform the instructor of any medical conditions, injury or physical limitations that may affect their participation.
Participants are required to have appropriate clothing, footwear, and medication for the duration of the session.
Any negligence or misuse of provided equipment that leads to personal injury or damage will be the sole responsibility of the participant.
Anyone who is abusive, damages property or fails to adhere to health and safety guidance may be removed from the session at the instructors discretion.
4. Property
All course materials, including notes, slides, and handouts, are the property of the instructor and may not be reproduced, distributed, or shared without explicit permission.
Participants retain copyright of the photographs they take during the session unless otherwise stated for collaborative projects.
Participants undertaking in tuition or workshops consent to having their image taken for the use of promotional material online in social media campaigns for future workshops and publicity unless they make prior agreements with the instructor.
5. Equipment and Materials
Participants are required to bring their own photography equipment, including cameras, lenses, tripod, filters and memory cards etc unless otherwise provided by the instructor.
Participants should ensure that their equipment is in good working condition before attending the session.
The instructor is not responsible for any damage to or loss of personal equipment during the session.
Participants should ensure that they have their own camera equipment insurance in place.
In the event that a piece of personal equipment is loaned to you and is either damaged (no matter how minor), lost or stolen, you must pay immediately the full new replacement value so that the item can be replaced.
6. Code of Conduct
Participants are expected to maintain a respectful and professional attitude towards the instructor, fellow participants and members of the public.
Any disruptive behavior may result in removal from the session without a refund.
7. Photography Locations
For sessions conducted at locations, participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs unless otherwise specified.
Participants must respect the rules and guidelines of the location where the session takes place.
8. Liability
The instructor will not be held liable for any accidents, injuries, or losses that may occur during the tuition session including any injury/damage caused by a fellow member of the group or member of the public.
Participants are advised to have appropriate insurance coverage for their equipment and personal safety, including travel insurance.
We are not liable or responsible for any damage or loss to personal belongings.
9. Session Changes
The instructor reserves the right to modify the content, schedule, or location of the session to meet unforeseen circumstances.
Participants will be informed of any changes as early as possible.
10. Complaints
Participants should verbally communicate any concerns or issues they would wish to raise during the session or workshop thus providing the instructor the opportunity to achieve a satisfactory solution. Should you not be satisfied with the solution, complaints should be made in writing within 28 days of completion of the course/workshop.
11. Agreement Acceptance
By enrolling in the session, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.
