Dalbeg is a small, characterful beach on the west side of Lewis, and one of our local places where we spend many hours exploring the shore. Framed by high cliffs and a single sea stack that anchors the bay, it’s a beach shaped by weather, tide and the narrow scale of the landscape around it. In this photograph, the last light breaks through heavy cloud and runs across the wet sand, catching the carved patterns left by the retreating tide. The dark rocks in the foreground add weight to the scene while the Atlantic moves quietly onto the shore. Dalbeg is known for its shifting sand channels, storm‑driven waves and the contrast between its small bay and the power of the ocean beyond.
