A collection of seascapes and landscapes from across the Outer Hebrides

Most of my work along the coast is about watching how the sea behaves and responding to whatever the conditions are doing that day. The Atlantic here changes fast, light, wind, tide, swell and the aim is simply to be in the right place when those elements line up. These images come from working the same stretches of shoreline repeatedly, learning how the waves break on certain tides and how the weather moves across the island.

If you’re interested in the process behind these photographs, I run 1:1 tuition & small workshops on Lewis and Harris where we spend time on these same beaches and headlands, reading conditions, choosing shutter speeds, working with movement, and making the most of whatever the sea gives us.
